We made it!

Planes, trains, and automobiles!
The students have finally had a chance to settle down after 24+ hours of being awake. After the traveling was over the students explored Avignon or took the opportunity to rest. Tonight's performance was a spectacular show by Christian Rizzo. We finished the night with a family meal in a great corner of Avignon.

Informal showing!

Last night the students of UArts Dance Study Cycles presented an informal showing of new work, repertory, revisited work, and student compositions. The show had a wide range in moods and genres. We were so grateful for the welcoming audience that was in attendance. After two long weeks of hard work and unforgettable moments, the students are on their way to France. Look forward to our upcoming posts in Avignon!

And we're off!

Everyone is ready to go!

The performance will include a showing of work from The Troupe, Sidra Bell, Gallim Dance/ Jonathan Windham,  and student choreography. We will be hosting a small post-performance reception as well. Access to our photos!

Hey All!
Since we have the pleasure of our very own photographer,  Kelsey Ludwig, to catalog the amazing time we are having at UArts Dance Study Cycles I thought it would be great to have a place to keep all of these photos.

Here is a link to the Flickr account created for the UArts DSC photos!

SBDNY

UArts Dance Study Cycles had the pleasure of hosting Sidra Bell and her dancers for a week. Sidra worked with the students on phrase work that will be shown in the Saturday showing. She also taught technique class everyday that was less technique and more movement exploration. Sidra used her interest in "languaging" dance to help the students understand movement and the sensations created by dance in a new way. When not teaching the students, Sidra was working with her dancers on a completely new work. In the short amount of time her dancers were given they learned and helped create a work that was shown to the students before the company had to head back to New York. Alex Diaz, SBDNY intern, created a compilation video that Sidra was kind enough to share with us. Here is the link, we hope you enjoy as much as we did!
