SBDNY
UArts Dance Study Cycles had the pleasure of hosting Sidra Bell and her dancers for a week. Sidra worked with the students on phrase work that will be shown in the Saturday showing. She also taught technique class everyday that was less technique and more movement exploration. Sidra used her interest in "languaging" dance to help the students understand movement and the sensations created by dance in a new way. When not teaching the students, Sidra was working with her dancers on a completely new work. In the short amount of time her dancers were given they learned and helped create a work that was shown to the students before the company had to head back to New York. Alex Diaz, SBDNY intern, created a compilation video that Sidra was kind enough to share with us. Here is the link, we hope you enjoy as much as we did!
